NICOTINE AND VAPE

IT’S NOT JUST WATER

E-LIQUID OFTEN CONTAINS NICOTINE ALONG WITH MANY OTHER HARMFUL INGREDIENTS

As a teen, you have a lot of choices including your style of clothes, what music you listen to, and what sports you play. But smoking and vaping should not be one of them – and here’s why. The younger you start using tobacco – in cigarettes or vapes – the more likely you will become addicted.

WHAT COULD IT HURT?

While vaping produces no actual smoke, the poisonous vapor can contain more than 2,000 harmful ingredients – including propylene glycol, formaldehyde, arsenic, and cadmium – just to name a few.

E-cigs heat up a solution (e-juice) often containing concentrated nicotine, a highly addictive drug especially harmful to your brain development.

The heated vapor is inhaled directly into the lungs, bypassing your body’s filtration system. Some vapor particles are small enough to enter your bloodstream – inflaming and damaging your organs and tissues.

HEALTH RISKS OF NICOTINE AND VAPE

Nicotine is a toxic substance. It raises your blood pressure and spikes your adrenaline, which increases your heart rate and the likelihood of having a heart attack.

Secondhand smoke from vapes contains nicotine, volatile organic compounds, and other harmful chemicals which can cause cancer, asthma, and heart disease.

Thirdhand smoke is the residue left behind on surfaces and in the air contaminating everyone that comes into contact with it – and is especially dangerous for young children and animals.
